Professional Development

Some of you are probably wondering where is the May article? Well, I did not get it written on time, my bad. Does that sound familiar? With the busy schedules we all have, it is difficult to get everything jammed into the days, weeks and months. So, here I sit ready to write the article for June, since it is too late for May. Wouldn’t you know it, I just remembered I said I would bring a birthday cake for my brother-in-laws birthday party today. There is always something else to do. I will be right back…

The cakes in the oven and I am back. Where was I? Yes, it is that time of the month or rather it is past the time that I am supposed to write an article. I was talking about how busy we all are or at least I can speak for myself. Even with all the responsibilities that we have in our roles as leaders we still need to take time for us. We need to take time to develop our gifts and to grow so that we can bring the best that we can be to our work. We do this through professional development and balancing that with our own time off for rest and relaxation.

Let us talk a bit about professional development. I am committed as a professional and as a leader to this one area. I need to challenge my self, keep abreast of the constant changes in my field and network with my colleagues. One way to do this is to attend conferences and Institutes. Let me introduce and invite you to a new venture at the University of Dayton happening this summer.
